Type Locality and Naming

Along the Kamyshly River, Kuldyktau Mountains, Central Kyzylkum. Ya. B. Aysanov et al., 1968 (43, p. 66). In the monograph (165) - a synonym of the upper part of the Taushan Fm.

Synonym: Kamystinskaya Suite, Камыстинская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Sandstones, gravelites, shales, conglomerates, boulders, the composition of pebbles of which is mainly represented by terrigenous rocks of the underlying Taushan suite, limestones, and quartz. Thickness 500 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

With erosion, angular, and azimuthal unconformity, it lies on the rocks of the Taushan Fm (44; 439). According to Yu.I. Loskikin (1986), it is a molasse composed of coarse clastic rocks - conglomerates, gravelites, boulders, lying above the Taushan Fm.

Upper contact

Schematic stratigraphic column indicates the upper contact as Tuzkoy Fm with erosion

Regional extent

Central Kyzylkum, in the form of isolated strips of NW extension in the central and eastern parts of the Kuldyktau Mountains.

Fossils

In limestone pebbles, boulders, and blocks, crinoids are found - Kazakstanocrinus decemlobatus Yelt., K. cf. pennatus Sisova, Cupressocrinites ovatus Schew., Enthrochus cingulatus impares Quenst., Pentagonocyclicus katranensis Yelt. from the middle Devonian and Middle Carboniferous - Cyclocion cf. distinctus Moore et Left, Cyphostellechus elondus Moore et Left, found in Bashkirian and Lower Moscovian deposits; early Carboniferous foraminifera - Earlandia cf. elegans (Raus. et Reitl.), Endothyra ex gr. latispiralis Lip., E. sp., Spiroplectammina sp.; tabulates from the upper part of the Lower Devonian and Eifelian - Favosites cf. regularissimus minor Janet.

The age of the suite is determined as Late Moscovian Middle Carboniferous.
